          PETER W. AND ANNA DYCK FAMILY

Peter W. Dyck was born in Manitoba on March 1, 1895, in the village of Enlage. He came with his parents and brothers and sisters to their Saskatchewan homestead near Wymark. Later they moved to Schanzenfeld. One of grandfather's early jobs was as a teacher in the Hochstadt village school. The teaching was all in German.

Anna Froese was born in Plum Coulee, Manitoba, on June 25, 1901. Her parents were Johann and Susanna (Peters) Froese. The family came to their homestead on SW 14-13-14 near Wymark.

Peter and Anna were married on July 27, 1919. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1969. They had twelve children, losing one in infancyand one at one year of age.

Grandfather's life span was 83 years to the day, he passed away on March 1, 1978.

Grandmother is still living in Wymark. She enjoys gardening and visiting with her children, grandchildren and her many friends.

Their children are: Anna - Mrs. David Penner, Wymark; Susie - Mrs. David Wiens; Bill - Swift Current; John - Wymark, Isaac - Swift Current; Jake - Swift Current; Hank - Red Cliff, Alberta; Agnes - Mrs. Abe Wiens, Warman, Saskatchewan; Dave - Calgary; and Ben - Swift Current.

Altogether, including children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, there are 103 members in the family. (1983)

Grandfather was a great storyteller. He spent many hours reading; then when the grandchildren came to visit, he would tell them the stories. Sometimes they were funny stories; other times a bit scary. The last time I visited Grandfather at home; he told me a funny story, and he laughed till he cried - a precious memory for me.

He also loved to play pranks on the children and tease them. All the children young and old loved him for this.

     Peter W. Dyck was born on 25 June 1910. He was the son of Wilhelm W. Dyck and Anna Wiebe. Peter W. Dyck married Maria Janzen on 30 December 1934 at Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua. Peter W. Dyck died on 11 July 1989 at Winkler, Manitoba, at age 79. He was buried on 15 July 1989 at Winkler, Manitoba.
