Between 1797 and 1801 he exchanged his home in Rosenthal for the home of Johann Schellenberg (b. ca 1755) #197207 in Chortitza (B. H. Unruh, p. 247, 252). In the 1801 Census he is listed at Chortitza #36, where his age is given as 33, which is apparently incorrect. Between 1803 and 1806 he moved to Nieder Chortitza where he is listed in the 1806 Census (P. Rempel, p. 37). In the 1814 Census he is listed at Nieder Chortitza #11 (B. H. Unruh, p. 281) and in the Oct 1816 Census at Nieder Chortitza #9. His age is given as 51 in the 1814 Census and as 53 in the Oct 1816 Census, both of which would support his birth date as being 27 Apr 1763. It is unclear whether his first wife Katharina or his second wife Maria was the mother of his children born between 1807 and 1814.
